2 lbs. Idaho potatoes, peeled and cut in 1/4" slices
1/4 lb. Gruyere cheese, cut in tiny cubes
2 c. milk
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
1/8 tsp. freshly ground nutmeg
Arrange layers of potato slices in a well-buttered baking dish, alternating with cubes of cheese.
Beat the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg, and pour the mix over the potatoes.
Bake in a 350 degree oven for 1.25 to 1.5 hoursor until the liquid is absorbed and the potatoes are soft.
